Winning jockey Damien Oliver had Kentucky Miss quickly into her stride and took up a position just behind the leading division on the outside of the Flemington straight.

Oliver found himself in front at the 300m and Kentucky Miss ($4) extended nicely over the concluding stages to hold off the strong finish of the $201 outsider Beyond The Dream.

Sydney filly My Country ($9) also found the line strongly to wind up in third spot.

Warwick Farm trainer Joe Pride will now head back to Sydney with Kentucky Miss who could return to Melbourne on Crown Oaks day to run in the Group 3 $200,000 Red Roses Stakes (1100m) at Flemington.

“I was planing on bringing her back for the race on Oaks day for the fillies but there are other options as well,” Pride said.

“I think she is going to measure up in the Autumn and maybe able to take on the older horses with some weight relief.”

“She is pretty good and has got that stakes win out of the way now. She is a very strong filly and will keep developing.”

Pride was full of praise for Kentucky Miss’s win today after being left without cover a long way from home.

“She was really strong today. Credit to the filly there, she was exposed a long way out and kept going to the line,” Pride said.

“She has always shown us a lot, she’s got a big heart and really tries very well.”

Today’s win was Kenturcy Miss’s third from eight starts and arrived at Flemington on the back of a tidy third to Star Turn in the Group 3 $150,000 Smithfield RSL Club San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on August 13, beating home the Golden Slipper winner Capitalist.
