Online bookmaker Ladbrokes Australia opened the talented colt at Blue Sapphire Stakes odds of $6 following the completion of a final field on Monday, but punters have already rallied around the three-year-old with just over one day remaining until jump.

Trialling well in the lead up to his competitive debut, Ken’s Dream immediately stamped himself as a colt to follow with a dominant performance for a nine length win in the Laser Electrical Maiden Plate (1000m) at Echuca on August 7th.

Making a successful transition to black type company with another comfortable win in the Listed McKenzie Stakes (1200m) on August 20th, the son of Dream Ahead was last seen finishing second in the Quest Moonee Valley Plate (1200m) on September 30th.

Group 1 winning jockey Dean Yendall will take the ride on Ken’s Dream from the ideal barrier 5 on Wednesday.

The Mick Price-trained Flying Artie has not been seen at the races so far this season, but remains a dominant occupant of the top line of Blue Sapphire Stakes betting at $2.20 odds.

Flying Artie stormed onto the Australian racing scene via a blistering turn of foot that resulted in a close second in the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) in November last year.

Resuming this year for a classy win in the Group 3 Blue Diamond C&G Prelude (1100m), the Artie Schiller colt ran a close second to stable mare Extreme Choice in the Group 1 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) before ending his two-year-old campaign third in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m).

Regular hoop Damien Oliver will take the ride on Wednesday and the colt could very well receive the run of the race from barrier 4.

Derryn failed to fire at his most recent start, but the colt remains sole occupant of the third line of Blue Sapphire Stakes betting, at $5.50 odds.

Returning from a spell for a maiden win in the Brian Reckas Handicap (1000m) on July 30th, Derryn ran a close second in the Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes (1300m) on August 20th leading into his lacklustre tenth in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) last time out.

The Danny O’Brien-trained Merriest ($8.50) interestingly figures as the only other runner currently available at 2016 Blue Sapphire Stakes odds of less-than $10.
