Jockey Challenge Success Icing On The Cake For Nolen

Top Australian jockey Luke Nolen is looking to win the international jockey’s challenge in Japan this weekend in what would be a brilliant end to the year.

The jockey will leave Japan shortly after the challenge and fly to Hong Kong where he will contest another jockey’s challenge on Wednesday.

Nolen is eagerly anticipating  his engagements in both countries in the coming days.

“I’m very much looking forward to both opportunities of riding in Japan and Hong Kong,” he said.

“I’m not expecting anything but I’m just hopeful that things go all right.

“Obviously I want to ride well, that’s first and foremost, and I would love to ride a winner against that calibre of riders.”

Nolen is hoping to make an impact at both the World Super Jockeys Series in Japan, as well as the Hong Kong International Jockeys’ Championship at Happy Valley.

He will be one of eight international riders to feature at Hanshin racecourse in Japan and will join 11 others in Hong Kong.

Both challenges will also feature a number of the country’s best local jockeys.

Nolen is best known in Australia for his affiliation with Peter Moody and his champion sprinter Black Caviar throughout her 16 start career.

The jockey has been aboard Black Caviar for 13 of her 16 wins and is expected to accompany her to Royal Ascot when she begins her international campaign next year.

“She has been wonderful to both Pete and myself,” Nolen said of the five-year-old mare.

“If I’m able to have a bit of success through both of these series’ it would cap the year just nicely.”

Luke Nolen is no stranger to success in jockeys’ challenges, riding a winner in the Shergar Cup at Royal Ascot when representing the Rest Of The World team.
