International jockey Joao Moreira didn’t let a careless riding suspension incurred from the Warwick Farm meeting on Saturday affect him when he returned to ride in Singapore on Sunday.

Moreira was able to rack up four winners on the day which culminated in a brilliant ride on Irish Coffee to take out the S$75,000 Progress Stakes (1200m) on the Polytrack.

Moreira was suspended by Racing New South Wales stewards for causing interference on Potions in the Alconex Fire Handicap (1100m) and is out from March 19 until midnight on March 29.

The Brazilian jockey pleaded guilty to permitting his mount to shift in at the 700m resulting in Jay Ford on Title having to be checked and lose ground.

Moreira who was in Sydney to ride for trainer John Thompson, was out of luck on the day and after finishing second on Potions challenged for the lead in the straight on Trusting in the Group 1 $350,000 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) before finishing third to Shoot Out.

The Singapore jockey’s title already looks to be in his keeping with fifty-eight winners already since the beginning of the year, forty ahead of Australian jockey Danny Beasley.

Trainer Steven Burridge praised both horse and jockey after the narrow win and is now looking to find a suitable race for Irish Coffee’s next start but is uncertain if he is up the Three Year Old Sprint Challenge with the first leg on March 30.

“That was a good win,” said Burridge.

“Joao made a decisive decision on the hometurn and then the horse showed good fight up the straight.

“I wasn’t sure where we were at with him and I did think that whatever he did today that he would improve on.”

Moreira’s other wins on the day were Jet Ace in the 1000m Maiden, Naturalbornfighter in the 1000m Class 4 and Bourbon Night in the 1200m Maiden.
