Pardoe is a chance of heading to the 2017 JJ Atkins after he made it three wins on the trot with a tough performance in the Oxlade Stakes at Doomben this afternoon.

It was Skate To Paris that looked as though she had the Oxlade Stakes shot to bits when he emerged from the pack to hit the front at the 200 metre mark, but Pardoe kept finding the line strongly on the outside and clearly relished the heavy conditions.

Trainer Tony Sears was clearly delighted to have recorded a black-type race win with Pardoe and he revealed after the race that connections had received a sizeable offer for the Red Dazzler colt during the week.

“We had a very good offer for him during the week and we decided not to sell him,” Sears said.

“They are all for sale, but I said for the owner in Singapore that I think he is a pretty good horse when he gets to a mile and that we should run him Saturday.

“If they still want him, they can come back and have another look at him.”

Sears is unsure whether Parode will remain under his care in Queensland or head elsewhere, but he has nominated the two-year-old for the Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m) at Eagle Farm on June 10 and he said that the Group 1 event does remain an option for the Oxlade Stakes winner.

“I have him nominated (for the JJ Atkins) and I’ve always thought that he was a miler,” Sears said.

“We will just see how he goes and progresses, but that was very good.

“It is very exciting.”

Skate To Paris lost no admirers with her performance, while Wudang Blade narrowly beat the big drifter Cabin Fever to the line for third.
