Lindsay Park co-trainer Tom Dabernig is expecting Jacquinot Bay to settle better in the early and middle stages when he lines up in the Group 3 $150,000 mypunter.com Eclipse Stakes (1800m) at Sandown on Saturday.

Jacquinot Bay is an on pace runner but Dabernig said that the eight year old overaced a bit for Michael Walker when he led in the Listed $150,000 James Boag’s Symphony Stakes (1800m) at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day before finishing fourth to Awesome Rock.
Dabernig is hoping Walker will be able to get Jacquinot Bay to came back underneath him a bit easier on Saturday and the fact that he has won at Sandown will also go in his favour.
“He raced at Flemington and he was a little bit keen,” Dabernig said.
“He went forward and slightly over travelled and left him a little bit vulnerable late.”
“So I think with only ten days into this race on Saturday, if he can go forward and settle. I thInk that he is a winner at Sandown over the 1600m and he is a really honest tough horse as well.”
Jacquinot Bay hasn’t been to the winner’s stall since winning the $100,000 Master Yearlings Summer Championship Final over 1600 at Sandown in February at the beginning of this year.
His Spring Carnival form has produced two seconds from five starts and he looked like having a good campaign with a first up second to Charmed Harmony over 1400m at Caulfield at the end of August.
At his next start he raced on the pace before fading to finish seventh of fourteen in the Listed $120,000 The Sofitel (1400m) at Flemington on September 12 but then he was back in the prizemoney when second to Kenjorwood over 1700m in a Caulfield Handicap.
The Lindsay Park Team of Dabernig and David Hayes then stepped the Galileo gelding up to Group 1 class and he wasn’t disgrace when running seventh to Lucky Hussler in the Group 1 $400,000 David Jones NBCF Toorak Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield on October 10 before heading to Flemington for the Symphony Stakes.
