Topweight I’ve Got The Looks is an early scratching from the Listed $100,000 Sky Racing Gai Waterhouse Classic (1350m) at Ipswich on Saturday.
I’ve Got The Looks came up with the outside barrier in the final fifteen horse field and co-trainers Peter and Paul Snowden had no hesitation in scratching the mare after coming up with the visitor’s draw and withdrew her within two hours of acceptances being released on Wednesday morning.
The Choisir mare was in scintillating form at her first two Queensland Winter Carnival runs with wins in the Listed $150,000 Better Than Ready Silk Stocking (1200m) at the Gold Coast on April 25 and in the Listed $100,000 Designline Graphics Juanmo Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on May 9.
But she was then caught wide at her next start as favourite and was beaten just over three lengths when eighth to Peace Force in the Group 3 $150,000 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on May 23.
Chris Waller has accepted with Champagne Cath who has also drawn awkwardly at barrier nine.
Champagne Cath has failed to run a place from two Winter Carnival outings which produced a fourth too Little Brown Horse in the $65,000 Parklands Taverns Handicap (1400m) for the fillies and the mares at the Sunshine Coast on May 16 followed by a sixth to Dublin Lass in the Listed $100,000 Mittys Bright Shadow Handicap (1200m) at Doomben on May 30.
Real Surreal, now back in the Kelso Wood stable, and the Clarry Conners trained Fare Well are also lining up in the Gai Waterhousse Classic after finishing fourth and fifth in the Bright Shadow Handicap.
2013 Magic Millions 2yo Classic winner Real Surreal had a short stint with the Hawkes Racing Team without a win before being sent back to Eagle Farm and has a great chance of returning to winner’s stall with Michael Cahill from barrier three.
Jim Byrne has retained the ride on Fare Well (barrier 7) and the Exceed And Excel mare will gain a lot of benefit from her first up run in the Bright Shadow Handicap.
The Heath Conners trained Refer will appreciate the drop in class after running sixth to Hazard in the Group 2 $300,000 Best Security Dane Ripper Stakes (1350m) at Doomben last Saturday.
Tegan Harrison takes over from Tim Clark on Refer and will need her share of luck from barrier ten.
