It’s Somewhat Not As Forward For 2015 Warwick Stakes

It’s Somewhat has a perfect first-up record in Australia, but trainer John O’Shea admits that he is not as forward for the 2015 Warwick Stakes at Royal Randwick tomorrow.

It’s Somewhat joined the Godolphin stable at the end of 2014 and he made his Australian racing debut with a most impressive win in the Group 3 Liverpool City Cup (1300m) at Warwick Farm on February 28 before he finished a credible ninth in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 21.

O’Shea believes that It’s Somewhat is one of the winning chances in the Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m), but he told Racing Ahead that the Dynaformer gelding is sure to take plenty of improvement out of the run and may not be forward enough to win the Group 2 event.

“He will be competitive,” O’Shea said.

“He is probably not as forward as he was last time and he obviously has a long way to go this time in, so we haven’t got him as forward.

“He has been in work and long time and if he can roll forward and cross Pornichet he will probably get a nice enough run.

“He is one of the chances, but I would think that if there is something there that is a bit wound up they would probably be too good for him.

“He will give a good account of himself.”

Godolphin also have Complacent in the 2015 Warwick Stakes field and the Group 1 winner will be making his first appearance at the races since he finished second behind Polanski in the Group 1 Victoria Derby (2400m) in 2013.

O’Shea admits that Complacent has very little chance of making a winning return to racing in the Warwick Stakes, but he believes that the Authorized entire is still capable of winning at Group level during the 2015 Spring Racing Carnival.

“I am very happy with him,” O’Shea said.

“I wouldn’t think he could win at seven, but I am very happy with where he is at and third-up when he gets to ten furlongs it will be right up his alley.

“He is going really well, he is a class act, he has done plenty of work and we weren’t going to run him unless we were 100 percent happy with him.

“At some stage during the spring I am sure that he will give a good account of himself in a feature race.”

It’s Somewhat is currently available at 2015 Warwick Stakes odds of $7.50 with Ladbrokes, while Complacent is at $51 to make a remarkable return to racing.
