It’s Somewhat at top of A.D. Hollindale Stakes field

Doncaster Mile winner It’s Somewhat sits at the top of the field for the Group 2 $358,000 Attwood Marshall A.D. Hollindale Stakes (1800m) at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

The John O’Shea trained It’s Somewhat has drawn barrier three in the twelve horse field and will be ridden by Tye Angland who takes over from Zac Purton who steered the six year old to an all the way win in the Group 1 $3m The Star Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick on April 1.

It’s Somewhat is racing in outstanding form and a win in the A.D. Hollindale Stakes will rack up a hat trick after he scored a first up win two starts back in the Group 2 $200,000 Hyland Ajax Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on March 11.

The powerful Chris Waller stable will saddle up two runners in the feature weight for age race with multiple Group 1 winner Preferment and the consistent McCreery.

Preferment has had a short break since finishing tenth to Winx in the Group 1 $600,000 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on February 25 and has drawn the rails with Hugh Bowman to ride.

McCreery has been performing well at Group 1 level without figuring in the major prizemoney and is coming off a last start fourth to Tivaci in the Group 1 $600,000 Schweppes All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on April 15.

Brisbane’s premiership pacesetter Jeff Lloyd takes the ride on McCreery who will jump from gate five.

Last start Toowoomba Cup winner Cylinder Beach will be flying the flag for the locals and the Desleigh Forster trained four year old will jump from barrier four with Jim Byrne in the saddle.

Rudy, who is trained at the Gold Coast by Helen Page, will also be vying for a home town victory and has drawn around the middle of the field at barrier seven with Robbie Fradd to ride.

The Nick Olive trained Single Haze showed that she is back in contention to feature in the major races over the Winter Carnival with a last start win in the Listed $100,000 Mandate Tails Stakes (1600m) at Doomben on April 22.

Regular rider Kathy O’Hara will be in the saddle again and Single Gaze will get a nice run from barrier six.

Sense Of Occasion has drawn out wide at barrier nine but appears to be one of the main chances if he can maintain his Sydney Autumn Carnival form that saw him run third at his last two starts at Randwick in the Group 1 $3m The Star Doncaster Mile (1600m) and in the Group 1 $4m Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m).

Corey Brown will be aboard the Kris Lees trained six year old again in the A.D. Hollindale Stakes.
