It’s A Dundeel passed fit to run in The BMW

Kiwi star It’s A Dundeel has been passed fit to run in the Group 1 The BMW (2400m) after a resurgence of hoof problems threw a scare into the Murray Baker camp in the lead up to $1.5m weight for age contest at Rosehill on Saturday.

It’s A Dundeel’s Cox Plate preparation was severely interrupted last Spring when the four year old stallion developed a stone bruise and had to miss some important track work in the lead up to the weight for age championship at Moonee Valley.

It‘s A Dundeel was passed fit in the days leading up to the Group 1 $3m Sportingbet Cox Plate (2040m) and after starting the $4 favourite had no luck in the run before finishing eighth to Shamus Award.

Regular race jockey James McDonald was pleased with It’s A Dundeel in a Monday morning workout but then the stallion was found to be slightly lame in both front legs on cooling down.

After being reshod It’s A Dundeel has been freer in his action and on Wednesday passed an inspection by Racing New South Wales veterinary surgeon Dr Craig Shaun.

It’s A Dundeel was also monitored this morning at Warwick Farm with steward Raymond Livingstone attending track work and reporting that the top The BMW fancy worked freely with bar plates on.

“Mr Livingstone reported It’s A Dundeel worked at about 5.05am in bar plates and was ridden by regular work rider Ms Emily Murphy. Mr Livingstone advised It’s A Dundeel appeared to be in excellent condition and worked well to the satisfaction of both Trainer Mr Murray Baker and regular trackwork rider Emily Murphy,” Racing New South Wales reported on their website.

Part owners Arrowfield Stud also had their vet, Dr Amy Kelly, in attendance and she was also satisfied with the stallions work and his condition on pulling up.

It’s A Dundeel will revert back to standard race plates for The BMW and will undergo further examinations by Dr Suann and Dr Kelly in the countdown to Saturday’s race.

Melbourne Cup and Australian Cup winner Fiorente holds the number one spot in the market order for The BMW with Ladbrokes.com.au at $3.20 just ahead of Ranvet Stakes winner Silent Achiever at $4.60 and It’s A Dundeel at $4.80.
