Induna Ready For Victoria Derby Showdown

Three-year-old Induna has propelled himself into Victoria Derby contention with a brilliant win in today’s Geelong Classic.

The Elusive Quality gelding won the race by three and a half lengths while running away from his opposition.

Assistant trainer Paul Snowden felt the dominant win was encouraging ahead of the $1 million Victoria Derby on October 29.

“He’s going to run the trip (2500m) and that holds you in good stead for a Derby,” Snowden said.

Snowden felt that the addition of blinker’s to Induna’s race gear had turned the gelding’s form around.

“He went out there at Gosford and had a good sort of kill and Saturday morning I was quietly confident after he worked outstandingly well,” Snowden said.

“Today he just had to justify his spot for the Derby and I thought he was pretty dominant.

“It is up to him now.

“He has a few runs under his belt and he’s a pretty seasoned horse and it was good to see him hit the line today and run through it.”

Induna has now won two of his eight starts and earned more than $85,000 in prize money.
