Trainer Ben Smith’s wish for a single digit barrier draw for In Her Time failed to come true with the mare coming up with gate sixteen in the Group 1 $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Tiara (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday.

A final field of sixteen plus five emergencies make up the Group 1 for the fillies and mares and if all the reserves fail to gain a start, In Her Time will move in three spots to gate thirteen with Josh Parr back in the saddle.
Smith was hoping for a change of change of luck after In Her Time had been handicapped with wide barriers at her last four starts, including her last start second to Impending from gate twelve in the Group 1 $1.5m Stradbroke Handicap (1350m) at Doomben on June 10.
“Somewhere around the four to eight mark would be a good barrier for her,” Smith had said earlier in the week.
“She hasn’t seen the rail in a long time.”
Smith was also hoping for a good track for In Her Time and that looks likely to eventuate after the Doomben track was upgraded to a soft 6 on Wednesday morning and with sunny skies forecast for the remainder of the week, another upgrade could be possible before start time on Saturday.
“Sunshine is predicted so hopefully it will dry out a bit more. Dead to early soft range, she doesn’t mind it. As long as she’s got a bit of foot in there, she’s fine,” Smith said.
Bjorn Baker’s two runners Egyptian Symbol, barrier twenty and Bonny O’Reilly, barrier seventeen, were also given the visitor’s draw.
Jason Collett finds himself back on Bonny O’Reilly after Noel Callow rode her into third placing behind Prompt Response and My True Love in the Group 2 $200,000 Bundaberg Rum Dane Ripper Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on Stradbroke Handicap Day while Tim Clark takes over from Glyn Schofield on Egyptian Symbol.
The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Prompt Response has drawn nicely at eight and could move in two spots at race time while stablemate My True Love was relegated to fifth emergency and came up with barrier nineteen.
Chris Waller’s only runner French Emotion came up with barrier twenty-one in the original draw and will jump from the outside of the sixteen horse field come start time with Hugh Bowman in the saddle.
The Darren Beadman trained Kinshachi drew beautifully at gate two and will be given every chance by Michael Cahill while stablemate Maternal is marked as the first emergency but will need plenty of luck if she makes the final field after drawing barrier eighteen.
Stradbroke Handicap winning jockey Corey Brown sticks with the Kurt Goldman trained Eckstein who could jump from barrier eleven after drawing fourteen in the original draw.
Brown and Eckstein combined last start for a win in the Group 3 $150,000 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1300m) at Eagle Farm on May 27.
Last year’s Tattersall’s Tiara winner Miss Cover Girl was given no favours at the barrier draw, coming up with gate fifteen with Damian Browne to ride the Kelly Schweida trained mare again.
