I’m Imposing Waller’s Pick in Eagle Farm Cup

I’m Imposing has been unlucky not to return to the winner’s circle over a competitive preparation this time in however trainer Chris Waller believes he is in the right form to end the drought in this afternoon’s Group 2 Eagle Farm Cup (2200m) at Doomben.

I’m Imposing failed to make much of an impact when tenth in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) first-up on March 21st, but has since impressed by finishing third in each of the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes (1800m), Group 1 Doomben Cup (2000m) and Group 3 Lord Mayor’s Cup (1600m).

Having been confirmed to saddle five of the seven contestants in the 2015 Eagle Farm Cup field, Waller is confident I’m Imposing figures as his best chance for success.

“I’m Imposing is getting very close to a win,” Waller told The Daily Telegraph.

“He is the only one of our proven weight-for-age runners not to have won a Group 1 race but he has beaten Foreteller, Moriarty and Hawkspur home fair and square in their last two starts.

“I can’t fault the way I’m Imposing is racing and if he can back up seven days after his run the other day (Lord Mayor’s Cup) he will be really hard to beat.”

Waller will also saddle, Foreteller, Moriarty, Hawkspur and Index Linked in the 2015 Eagle Farm Cup.

“The others are going well although Hawkspur is probably a little below what we expect of him,” Waller added.

“Index Linked is going into a weight-for-age race for the first time but after a year off he has won four races this preparation.

A three-time Group 1 winner, Foreteller has finished fourth in the Hollindale Stakes and sixth in the Doomben Cup since arriving in Queensland this time.

Posting a maiden Group 1 success of his own in the Kingston Town Classic (1800m) in Perth over summer, Moriarty is the defending Eagle Farm Cup champion and will jump from the rails draw this afternoon.

Ladbrokes Australia is currently offering I’m Imposing at 2015 Eagle Farm Cup odds of $4.50 for success, while Foreteller is rated outright favourite at a quote of $3.80.
