I’m Belucci to Contest Magic Millions 3yo Guineas Fresh

I’m Belucci more than stamped his claims as a colt to follow through his recent spring campaign and trainer Desleigh Forster is confident the Group 1 placegetter is forward enough for first-up success in the Magic Millions 3.y.o Guineas (1400m) on the Gold Coast on January 9th.

I’m Belucci was a standout through three-year-old races in Brisbane through August and September but undoubtedly announced himself to the Australian racing community when running on for second behind Vanbrugh in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Randwick on October 10th.

Forster told The Courier Mail the Captain Sonador colt has taken plenty of benefit from his time away from racing and is confident the horse will be right in the finish of the 2016 Magic Millions 3yo Guineas.

“He’s a clean-winded and athletic horse that come to hand very quickly and he worked nicely on Saturday,” Forster said.

“At the moment, the Guineas is where he’s going. $2 million is a lot of money so you may as well get him ready for it.

“He’s well and truly up to that class. There’s no Phar Laps I can see and the Melbourne horses in the market have to get there.

“Nice and fresh, I’m sure he will get home late.”

Trialling well in the lead-up to his competitive debut, I’m Belucci immediately announced himself when charging home for a close second behind Craiglea Wandoo on January 31st before immediately returning to the paddock with a view towards spring.

Returning on August 29th for fourth in the Rawgroup Hospitality Handicap (1200m), I’m Belucci posted a commanding maiden win in the Barrier Reef Pools Plate (1300m) and ran third in the Canadian Club Handicap (1600m) in his only other start prior to the Spring Champion Stakes.

Ladbrokes Australia currently rate I’m Belucci a $15 chance for success in early 2016 Magic Millions 3yo betting markets.
