The Gary Frazer-trained three-year-old Hurrara will be out to win his fourth race in just six starts when he takes to the track at Rosehill Gardens tomorrow.
The Hussonet gelding will run in tomorrow’s Nab Corporate Benchmark 80 Handicap.
Hurrara won his last start by a convincing two and a half lengths ahead of Unanimously on July 2.
“He went really well last start on what was a better surface than he had previously run on and I was really happy with him,” Frazer said.
The trainer is thankful that tomorrow’s track is not rain-affected.
“I don’t think he handles heavy tracks very well but goes okay on a slow and the good 3 tomorrow should be no problem for him at all,” Frazer said.
Until now Hurrara has gone unnoticed by the public, despite winning five of his 12 race starts and earning almost $160,000 in prize money.
“I wanted to work him through the grades in his earlier races,” Frazer said.
“It’s hard enough to win races these days so you are better off to try and go through the grades.”
While tomorrow’s race will not be a step up in grade for Hurrara, his weight allocation has increased from 55.5 kilograms to 58 kilograms.
“I think we will just wait and see what happens as there are a few in there that are pretty fast and will probably go forward, so we will wait and see,” Frazer said.
“The weight is always a worry for sure but I decided not to claim and put Nash (Rawiller) on as he has ridden the horse his last couple runs and has gotten to know the horse which is pretty important.”
Frazer has confidence in Hurrara’s ability but realises that he will face some quality opposition.
“He is the favourite for the race but I imagine there are two or three horses that could win there is no doubt about that,” he said.
“He has won over 1200 metres when beating Bereft at Hawkesbury so he can get further but he does go really well over the 1100.
“He does like a good freshen-up between races and I was tossing up whether or not to run him but it was the last three-year-old race of the season in his class so it is probably worth the run.”
