Hunter Brimming With Praise For Disposition Ahead Of CS Hayes Stakes

Trainer Wez Hunter has declared that Disposition is easily the best horse in his stable ahead of his racing debut on the eastern seaboard of Australia in the 2015 CS Hayes Stakes at Flemington next weekend.

Disposition started his racing career in Perth with four straight victories and he was sent to Melbourne to join the Hunter stable after he finished second in both the Group 2 WA Guineas (1600m) and Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) during the 2014 Perth Summer Racing Carnival.

Hunter revealed last week that Disposition would return to racing in the Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on February 21 before he returns to Group 1 level for the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at the same venue on March 7 and the Mornington-based trainer told Racing Ahead that he has been thrilled with everything the gelding has done since joining his stable.

“I couldn’t be any happier with him,” Hunter said.

“The horse takes a bit of work and he has a bit of a mind of his own, but you couldn’t question his ability and I think that he is a really nice horse.

“To be honest I think that he is the best horse that I have got by a long way.”

Disposition still has 11 days before he starts his 2015 Melbourne Festival Of Racing campaign in the CS Hayes Stakes, but Hunter said that he will resist the temptation to give the three-year-old a barrier trial or jump out ahead of his return to racing and believes that he has the son of Reset where he needs to be at this point of his preparation.

“I will just take him away for a gallop somewhere,” Hunter said.

“It is a bit of a trap with the Reset’s, they can be a bit awkward and a bit difficult, but I think that a trip away will top him off.

“He came to us pretty fit because he didn’t have a long break, similar to Joey after Perth, and he is pretty much ready to go.

“It is just a matter of ticking him over and getting him right on the day.”

Hunter has not made any plans for Disposition post the Australian Guineas, but the Group 1 placegetter was included in the nominations for the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) that were released yesterday.

Disposition is currently available at 2015 Australian Guineas odds of $15 with Ladbrokes Australia and is on the fourth line of betting behind Shooting To Win ($7), Lucky Liberty ($9) and Petrology ($10).
