By superior wet track sire Snitzel, Hot Snitzel was able to handle the slow track perfectly to score an unexpected win and trainer Gerald Ryan will have to rethink the four year olds immediate future.

“To be perfectly honest I thought he still needed this run, but in saying that the horse has been going good,” Ryan said.

“He’d improved off his first up run and I hadn’t done heaps with him and he was well and happy going into the race.”

“We’ve had Queensland in the back of our mind and after today we will think about weight for age at Eagle Farm in about three week’s time.”

“But we might go back to the drawing board and find a race at Randwick for him.”

Winning jockey Blake Shinn had Hot Snitzel ($15) sitting pretty just behind the leaders and shot the four year old to the front at the 300m and maintained his lead to score a comfortable two and a quarter lengths win over Smokin’ Joey ($21) who is starting to regain his best form.

Third placegetter See The World ($8) ran on nicely while $3.60 favourite Tiger Tees raced on the pace and faded in the straight to finish a well beaten eleventh.

“I got into a lovely position from a nice barrier draw. Geez he travelled so well throughout the whole race, got through the ground so nicely, was in the best part of the track,” Shinn said.

“He quickened so well, he’s a real capable horse on his day and he proved that today.”
