Eagle Farm trainer Liam Birchely won’t be surprised if his filly Hot Snippety sets the pace in the $250,000 Inglis Nursery (1000m) at Randwick on Saturday.

Hot Snippety led at her first race start for an all the way win over 11050m at Doomben on October 11 before heading to Melbourne for a second to Fontiton in the $250,000 Inglis Banner (1000m) at Moonee Valley on October 25
Birchely said that the Snippetsons filly has great gate speed and top Sydney jockey James McDonald will take advantage barrier four in the capacity sixteen horse field.
“She will bounce and be up there. She has very good gate speed. I’d be surprise if she doesn’t possibly control it without really knowing what else may emerge out of the race,” Birchley told Racing HQ.
With more than half the field facing the starter for the first, Hot Snippety will have a distinct advantage having race experience and Birchley expects that to come to the fore.
“There are a few unknowns in this race, the weather is another one properly. At least she is sort of race fit, she’s race experienced, which puts her hopefully ahead of a few of the others.”
“She tries hard. The attributes with her is her toughness and her racing pattern helps out greatly and she is very sound so you can win, especially early in the season, your share of two old races with horses in that condition.”
The prospect of a rain affected Randwick track is an unknown for Hot Snippety but Birchley is banking her breeding to help her get through the heavy conditions.
“You can probably only go by a bit of breeding ,” Birchely said.
“I think the Snippetsons usually handle it and she is out of a Desert Sun mare which are pretty adept in it as well. So at least she some credentials.”
Hot Snippety is currently the second favourite at $4.80 for the Inglis Nursery with Ladbrokes.com.au just behind Let’s Make It Rain at $4.40.
Sun Flash from the Team Hawkes stable is next in the betting at $6 with trainer Bjorn Baker supplying the next two in the betting with first starters Fashion Model at $8 and Dane Slugger at $9.50.
