With her racing career effectively over, one of Australia’s champion racers Hot Danish is set to leave the Les Bridge stable when sold at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Auction in June.

Winner of two group one events the daughter of Nothin’ Leica Dane was pulled out of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival after a cut to her hind leg was infected so badly she was forced to undergo surgery at the Randwick Equine Centre earlier this month.

It would be an almighty shock if her new owners were to persist with a track racing career with the current connections selling her on the basis they are only interested in racing and they no longer feel she is up to the top level.

That of course means a life as a breeding horse awaits Hot Danish who was purchased for a mere $32,000 at the Inglis Scone Yearling Sales.

Since then she’s gone on to have 31 starts for 16 wins and ten places giving her $2.3 million in prize money.

“She has been an absolute marvel for us to own and has been a part of our lives for six years now,” managing part owner Tony Curtis said.

“We will be looking forward to following her progeny when they hit the track.”

The high point of her career was no doubt the back to back Group one victories in the All Aged Stakes at Randwick and Doomben 1000 in Brisbane.

Those wins came just last year meaning if she could have avoided injury more wins may have been just around the corner.

When the hammer falls at the auctions it’s expected she’ll be worth around $1.5 million to her new owners.
