Mosheen Horse Information
When one horse disappears to stud or goes down with injury there is always one to step up and take their place. With the unbeaten Atlantic Jewel restricted to light duties in the autumn of 2012, Mosheen stepped up to become an star and stamped her authority as one the best three-year-olds in the land.
After impressing during a brief two-year-old campaign that was highlighted by a runner-up finish in the Golden Slipper, Mosheen built on that in her first spring campaign when second to Atlantic Jewel in the Thousand Guineas and winning the Group 1 Victoria Oaks.
But the Robert Smerdon-trained horse really exploded in the autumn of 2012 as she became one of the starts of the carnival when scoring a Group 1 treble. A daughter of Fastnet Rock, Mosheen won the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas, Randwick Guineas and Vinery Stud Stakes.
Despite a minor throat operation leading into the spring of 2012, Robert Smerdon acted swiftly to get her on track for a campaign aimed towards the prestigious Cox Plate.
Also nominated for the Caulfield Cup, don’t be surprised to see the multiple Group 1 winner add more top tier titles to her resume as she makes the step up to open company.
