Horse Keepin’ The Dream Alive For Randwick Training Duo

Jim and Greg Lee’s Keepin’ The Dream has blessed the pair with their first win since receiving a three month training ban in November.

Keepin’ The Dream won the Group 3 Newcastle Newmarket Handicap on Thursday, March 17, 2011.

The Lee Brothers had been unable to train for three months after they were found to have presented a horse to race with the prohibited substance bicarb.

The training duo are thrilled to be back to producing winners once again.

‘‘When we returned to training on February 9 we put him straight back into work and for our first winner back to be in a group 3 is pretty good,’’ Greg Lee said.

The Randwick-based brothers have had much success at Newcastle Racecourse throughout their 30 years as trainers.

‘‘Newcastle has been a happy hunting ground for us,” Greg Lee said.

“We won a Newcastle Cup in track record time with Our Magic Man in 1990 and Hayai finished second in 1983.’’

The trainers will now head to the $2 million Doncaster Handicap with Keepin’ The Dream with their heads held high.

‘‘He only has 51 kilograms and his win today will enhance his prospects of gaining a start, so hopefully now it is straight to the Doncaster,’’ the trainer said.

The Lee brothers are hoping that Keepin’ The Dream’s win is just an indication of the successes to come for the training pair.
