Trainer Robert Heathcote (right) is hoping for more Group 1 success in Melbourne

While Queensland trainer Robert Heathcote is still celebrating Buffering and Woorim’s impressive first-up Melbourne wins last weekend, he is already looking towards their next assignment amongst Group 1 company.

Heathcote will be hoping the pair can snare him his first Group 1 victory of his career when Woorim runs in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes on September 24 and Buffering takes on Sepoy in the Manikato Stakes on September 30.

“Their two next races are both Group 1’s – Manikato and Sir Rupert Clark,” Heathcote said.

Woorim finished an unlucky third in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes last year after being held up in the final straight.

“Two more strides (and) he would have won, he unleashed that trademark finish,” Heathcote said.

“(Jockey) Corey Brown kind of got held up a bit and when he needed to push the afterburner he (couldn’t).”

Back at his home stables, Heathcote will line up Trump and Bevico Girl in the Coolabah Tree Café QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap at Doomben.

“Both horses have got plenty of ability,” Heathcote said.

However, the trainer believes Trump will be the most likely winner.

“This horse of mine, this Trump, he’s been a real revelation for the stable,” Heathcote said.

“I think he’s a pretty decent animal.

“He’s going to need a bit of luck tomorrow.”

An impressive win could see Trump travel down to Melbourne for a start in the Group 3 Norman Robinson Stakes on October 15.

“He’s on notice a bit tomorrow,” Heathcote revealed.

Heathcote will also be represented by Red God, Eureka, Mr Nicholas and Il Cardinale at Doomben tomorrow.
