Hay List’s Full Brother Set for Debut

A full brother to $2.5 million earner Hay List is nominated to make their possible race debut this weekend with the Stephen Brown-trained Hay One an entry on a bumper Moonee Valley race card for Saturday.

The unraced Statue Of Liberty gelding shares the same star Eliza Park sire and dam (Sing Hallelujah) as rising eight-year-old Hay List who has been a headline maker over the past few seasons as much for their plethora of minor placings behind the now retired super mare Black Caviar as their three own Group 1 trophies.

The hype on Hay One, trained at Flemington by Darwin expat Brown, is building as their WA-based connections, the same Davenport family of owners behind Hay List, consider sending them to the races for the first time on Saturday.

Hay One is one of 35 juveniles nominated for the $80,000 Super VOBIS Two-Years-Old Handicap (1000m) which carries plenty of bonus prize money for eligible horses including a $30,000 Super VOBIS bonus plus an additional $20,000 VOBIS Gold bonus.

It is shaping up as intriguing little side race on the Victorian line-up this weekend too with plenty of other promising youngsters in the mix including the Rick Hore-Lacy-trained Clevadude.

The Bel Esprit gelding enjoyed two big wins in December last year at career starts one and two over 1000m but failed to bring that form to the Gold Coast in January when a distant 14th beaten 10 lengths by the winner Real Surreal in the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m).
