Hay List throws out injury scare for william reid

William Reid odds on favourite Hay List is under an injury cloud and will have to undergo a veterinary inspection before Friday night’s WFA Group 1 at Moonee Valley.

Trainer John McNair advised Racing Victoria stewards that the Newmarket Handicap winner had been treated for a bruised near fore heel but was confident the six year old would take his place in the field.

Hay List has eased to $1.50 in some markets after the news of the injury with Robert Heathcote’s Buffering firming slightly to $8.50 and will have an inspection tomorrow afternoon to see if he is fit to run.

Buffering made Hay List work every inch of the way in a driving finish in the Group 1 $1m Lexus Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on March 10 when a short head second to the mighty sprinter.

The John O’Shea trained three year Foxwedge is next in line at $12 and showed he is not far away from a Group 1 win with a fighting third behind Hay List in the Newmarket.

Hay List has been plagued by injury during his illustrious career and NcNair had to call off last year’s Brisbane Winter Carnival campaign early when he developed a life threatening injury which put him out of action for over six months.
