Hay List Scratched From Newmarket Handicap

Hay List has been scratched from the $1 million Newmarket Handicap this morning after a veterinary examination determined he was unfit to run.

The five-year-old gelding was advised against racing in the Newmarket Handicap this Saturday March 12, 2011, due to soreness in his off-side shoulder.

This means that another showdown between super mare Black Caviar and Hay List will not take place in Australia’s premier sprint racing event this weekend.

Hay List was officially scratched from the race by his trainer John McNair at 8.40am this morning, Friday March 11, 2011.

The Statue Of Liberty gelding has won 12 of his 15 race starts, but has been unable to get close to the incredibly talented Black Caviar at their previous two meetings.

The scratching of Hay List has now made Black Caviar’s attempt to claim 10 unbeaten wins in a row even easier.
