Trainer Doug Harrison is hopeful that precocious colt Tudor can break through for his maiden race win in the Blue Diamond Preview For Colts And Geldings (1000m) at Flemington on Saturday.

Tudor made his racing debut with a second place finish behind the talented Eloping in the BJC Members Celebration Maiden (900m) at Bendigo on December 22 and that form was franked when third placegetter Jarklin finished an impressive second behind Nostradamus in the Nursery Plate (1100m) at Flemington last Saturday.
Harrison told Racing Ahead this morning that he is delighted with the manner that Tudor has shown in his brief racing career and expects the son of Strategic to perform well when he steps up to Listed level this weekend.
“He is a lovely colt and I am very excited with him,” Harrison said.
“He has a terrific manner in the way that he goes about things and it was good run up there in Bendigo.
“She is quiet smart and he sort of put it to her.
“They ran just outside the course record that day, held by, and he a bit of a week off after that.
“We thought that we would give him a go at this and he worked nicely Monday morning.
“With all these sort of things you just hope that they are right on the day.
“He is one of those horses that just goes about things in a terrific manner.”
Tudor will jump from barrier six in the Blue Diamond Preview on Saturday and Harrison said that he will be leaving the tactics for the race up to leading jockey Craig Williams.
The two-year-old challenged Eloping for the lead in his first-up run, but Harrison believes that Tudor has the temperament to settle in the middle of the field before finishing the race off strongly.
“I think that he can do nicely and it will be nice for my horses to draw some good barriers for a change,” Harrison said.
“He can jump and he can sit there quick or he can relax and do whatever you want him to do.
“You don’t get many that come along with a manner like him as a colt and I think we will just play it out and see how it does go.”
Tudor will face nine rivals in the Blue Diamond Preview; with Mick Price-trained Berlutti, Mornington-based Grande Rosso, Stratum colt Munjiz and Jerome Hunter-trained Statue Of Warriors all making their racing debut.
