Co-trainer Paul Snowden has confirmed that Gypsy Diamond will contest the 2015 Wagga Wagga Gold Cup tomorrow and he is confident that the talented mare will prove tough to beat in the Listed event.

Gypsy Diamond started her 2015 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival campaign with a third place finish in the Group 3 Liverpool City Cup (1300m) at Warwick Farm on February 28 and she performed well without winning in the Group 3 Newcastle Newmarket Handicap (1400m) on March 18 and the Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 28 before she gave herself no chance of winning when she missed the start in the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) at Royal Randwick on April 11.
The Not A Single Doubt mare was stepped-up to 2000 metres for the Group 3 JRA Plate (2000m) at Royal Randwick on April 18 and she showed an impressive turn-of-foot to finish over the top of Leebaz and return to winning form.
The form coming out of the JRA Plate was franked when Leebaz took out the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes (1800m) at the Gold Coast last weekend and Snowden told Racing Ahead that he is hopeful the four-year-old can record her second straight win in the Wagga Wagga Gold Cup.
“She runs on Friday in the Wagga Cup,” Snowden said.
“The owners are from the area and would obviously love to win their hometown Cup.
“Her form is quite good, with Leebaz winning last week, and hopefully she can do justice for her owners and win the Cup there for her owners.”
Gypsy Diamond is currently on top of the 2015 Wagga Wagga Gold Cup with Ladbrokes and is currently available at a quote of $3.20 to take out the Listed event.
Tony McEvoy-trained Kourkam is another galloper taking winning form into the Wagga Wagga Gold Cup following his Albury Cup (2000m) victory and he is currently on the second line of betting at Wagga Wagga Gold Cup odds of $5.
Leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller won the Wagga Wagga Gold Cup with Trade Commissioner last year and both Our Voodoo Prince ($6.50) and last year’s winner are both priced at a single figure quote.
Our Voodoo Prince has not recorded a race win since he took out the Group 3 Easter Cup (2000m) on April of last year, while Trade Commissioner has failed to fire since he took out the Wagga Wagga Gold Cup last year.
There has been a sprinkling of support for Faust ($26 into $21), Court Connection ($41 into $34), Price Of Glory ($31) and Devised ($34 into $31), while Cardiff Prince ($26 out to $21) and It’s A Virtue ($21 out to $31) have both been on the drift.
