The Group 1 winning performances from the Peter Snowden stable are set to continue at Caulfield on Wednesday with star filly Guelph ready to dominate the Group 1 $500,000 Schweppes Thousand Guineas (1600m).

Darley Australia, under the care of Snowden, won a two state Group 1 double last weekend with Complacent taking out the Group 1 $400,000 Moet & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Randwick and Long John proving too strong in winning the Group 1 $1m BECK Caulfield Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield.
Guelph has drawn perfectly at barrier five in a nine horse field and has been listed as the $1.40 favourite coming off two wins during the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival.
The Exceed And Excel filly scored two starts back over Arabian Gold and Bound To Earth in the Group 2 $175,000 Coolmore Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on September 21 followed by a win in the Group 1 $400,000 Coolmore Flight Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on October 5, beating Sensibility and Bound To Earth.
Snowden can’t fault his star filly since winning her third Group 1 in the Flight Stakes and is hoping she has enough luck in running to add another Group 1 trophy to the mantle-piece.
“She is in good order and hopefully everything goes to plan on Wednesday,” Snowden said.
“There is no such thing as a good thing in any race; racing is racing.”
“She is such a great filly to work with.
“Each run has been better than the run before and I feel that she is as good or better than last week.
“She has raced at Caulfield before, she has won there before and all things being equal she will be pretty hard to beat.”
Number one stable rider Kerrin McEvoy will be looking for another Group 1 win on Guelph after being aboard the filly in the Flight Stakes wins as well as her two Group 1 wins as a two year old in the Autumn, the $500,000 Inglis Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) and the $400,000 Moet & Chandon 150th Champagne Stakes (1600m) both at Randwick.
David Hayes’ filly Gregers ($11) has also hit form at the right time and bounced back into the winner’s stall in the Group 2 $175,000 Schweppes Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) at Caulfield on September 21 and will also get a good run from gate two.
The John O’Shea trained Bound For Earth ($13) has drawn out at barrier seven but looks to have the job ahead of her after finishing third to Guelph at her last two starts in Sydney.
May’s Dream ($8.50) from the Darren Weir stable, created a huge impression winning over 1400m at Caulfield but faces a gigantic class rise in the Thousand Guineas and is certain to be given every chance by Nick Hall from gate three.
While Se Sauver ($17) could make her presence felt from barrier four after causing an upset win in the Group 2 $220,000 TAB Edward Manifold Stakes (1610m) at Flemington on October 5.
