Sydney rider Brenton Avdulla revealed on twitter that he will partner the Gerald Ryan-trained mare in the winter sprint where she will attempt to add a fourth stakes win to her impressive resume.

“Will be riding at Caulfield on the 13th of July…Mrs Onassis in the Monash Stakes,” Avdulla said on twitter.

The five-year-old hasn’t been seen since struggling to finish 11th in April’s Sapphire Stakes but is expected to hit the ground running over her pet distance at Caulfield.

Seven of her eight career victories have come over 1100m and she showed just how perfect the distance is for her when producing an explosive performance to break through at Group 1 level in the Oakleigh Plate in February.

In addition to the Oakleigh Plate triumph, the General Nediym mare has also won twice at Listed level and collected more than $500,000 in prizemoney.

Avdulla, meanwhile, has some business to take care of at Rosehill this Saturday before heading to Melbourne next weekend.

The jockey has four Saturday rides including Chris Waller’s in-form sprinter Disciple in the Listed Civic Stakes (1350m).

The four-year-old rises in class this weekend for his first crack at black-type level after producing two victories and a narrow runner-up in three starts this winter.

Disciple forms part of a strong Waller-trained brigade in the Civic Stakes that also includes Group 1 runner-up Said Com and Nocturnelle.
