Gollan has 4 in Lough Neagh Stakes nominations

Leading trainer Tony Gollan has four horses in the nominations for the Listed $175,000 Lough Neagh Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday.

Fontelina, Gundy Spirit, Temple Of Boom and Brave Ali are among the nominations but with only fourteen horses entered the Brisbane Racing Club has extended the deadline until 9am on Tuesday December 8, 2015.

Gundy Spirit and Fontelina finished second and third in the Group 3 $200,000 Channel 7 George Moore Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on November 28 behind stablemate Didntcostalot who has been sent to the paddock for a freshen up before heading to the Gold Coast for the 1m Magic Millions Sprint (1100m) on January 9.

Temple Of Boom also went around in the George Moore Stakes for a seventh while Brave Ali is resuming after twelve months away from the race track.

Temple Of Boom is certain to strip fitter for his first up run in the George Moore Stakes when he tired in the straight after racing just behind the leaders.

The nine year old has performed well at the top level in his younger days and claimed a Group 1 victory in the 2012 $350,000 The James Boag Galaxy (1100m) at Randwick.

During the 2014 Brisbane Winter Carnival Temple Of Boom was beaten a head by stablemate Spirit Of Boom in the Group 1 $650,000 James Boag’s Premium Doomben 10000 (1350m) at Doomben followed by a nose second to River Lad in the Group 1 $1.36m AAMI Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm.

The Piccolo gelding was still mixing it with the best during this year’s Winter Carnival and claimed fourth spot behind Srikandi in the Stradbroke Handicap that run over 1350m at Doomben this year.

The in-form Steel Zip is among the Lough Leagh Stakes nominations and will be looking for his fourth win on the trot coming off a win in the Listed $100,000 One Key Resources Keith Noud Handicap (1200m) at Doomben on November 14.

Six year old Saluter was back in the winner’s stall last start under a big weight with an all the way win in a 1350m NMW Handicap at Doomben on November 28.

At his previous run the Robert Heathcote trained sprinters was third to Steel Zip in the Keith Noud Handicap.

Rosehill trainer Gerald Ryan has nominated Peace Force for the Lough Neagh Stakes as well as for Group 2 $250,000 Villiers Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on Saturday.

Peace Force was beaten less than half a length last start when a fighting third to Mighty Lucky in the Listed $150,000 Sky Thoroughbred Central Festival Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on November 28.
