Co-trainer Paul Snowden is confident that four-year-old Gold Symphony will prove very tough to beat, when he lines up for the Listed Regal Roller Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday.

Gold Symphony began his racing career under the guidance of the recently-retired Peter Moody and more than stamped himself as a colt to watch through his maiden campaign last spring; taking out each of the Group 3 Vain Stakes (1100m) and Group 3 McNeil Stakes (1200m) most notably, both at Caulfield.
Having run on for fourth in the talent-rich July Sprint (1100m) in his first run for the Snowdens on July 23rd, Paul told Racing Ahead that the Reward For Effort entire has taken plenty of condition from the hit-out and believes he is a serious chance of returning to winning form in the Regal Roller Stakes.
“He’s going really well,” Snowden said.
“He resumed in the Canterbury Stakes (July Sprint) a few weeks ago behind Redzel and found the line really well late.
“We tossed up whether to continue in the Aurie’s Star last weekend but we decided that this being at Caulfield and with his record there, to hold back and run him here.
“I know we’ve drawn a little bit awkward, but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of speed on paper and it doesn’t seem to be an overly strong race.
“He’s going really well, very happy with the way he looks. He’s absolutely gleaming.
“Hopefully he can get across in some sort of spot, somewhere in the first three or four and I think he’ll be hard to beat.”
Gold Symphony appeared as though he was on course for another standout preparation when he returned to racing this year for a credible fifth in the Inglis Dash (1100m), but was returned to the paddock after failing to make anything of an impact in either of the Group 3 Manfred Stakes (1200m) or Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m).
Dean Yendall has been confirmed to take the ride on Gold Symphony in the Regal Roller Stakes, who will leave from barrier 9 with only 54kgs in tow.
