Godolphin Head Trainer Saeed Bin Suroor has revealed that Wadi Al Hattawi and Secret Number could both be sent to Australia for the 2015 Melbourne Cup at Flemington on November 4.

Wadi Al Hattawi is set to be included in the 2015 Melbourne Cup nominations that will be released this afternoon after he returned to winning form with an impressive four lengths victory in the London Southend Airport Handicap (2615m) at Newmarket on Saturday.

The Dalakhani gelding has now two wins from three race starts this season after being pulled up in the Ebor Handicap (2816m) at York on August 22 and Bin Suroor believes that the five-year-old has done enough to be worthy of 2015 Melbourne Cup consideration.

“He could definitely be a horse for Australia, and I’ve got two or three others but I need to see more from them,” Bin Suroor said.

Secret Number has not been seen at the races since he finished second behind Prince Bishop in the Group 3 September Stakes (2414m) at Kempton Park last year, a race that also included Dandino and Red Cadeaux, but Bin Suroor believes that the Raven’s Pass entire could be the right type of horse for the Melbourne Cup.

Secret Number made his debut at Group level in just his third race start when he finished second behind Helene Super Star in the 2013 edition of the Group 2 UAE Derby (1900m) at Meydan on March 30 and he was competitive in races like the Group 3 Tercentenary Stakes (2012m), Group 3 Gordon Stakes (2414m), Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes (2414m) at York on August 21 and the Group 1 Ladbrokes St Leger Stakes (2937m) on September 14 before he claimed a maiden stakes win in the Group 3 Cumberland Lodge Stakes (2414m) at Ascot on October 5.

“Secret Number is the other one I like for it,” Bin Suroor said.

“You need to have a horse with form over a mile and a quarter or a mile and a half and he won a Group 3 over a mile and a half last year.”

Godolphin are chasing their first win in the Melbourne Cup after previously finishing in the placings with Crime Scene (second behind Shocking in 2009), Beekeeper (third behind Media Puzzle in 2002), Give The Slip (second behind Ethereal in 2001) and Central Park (second behind Rogan Josh in 1999).
