Go Indy Go’s Crown Oaks Odds Shorten

Talented filly Go Indy Go is into 2014 Crown Oaks odds of $4.40 and is now favourite to deliver trainer Leon Macdonald a maiden win in the Group 1 event at Flemington on Saturday.

Go Indy Go opened at a quote of $5.50 when the Crown Oaks field was released on Monday afternoon, but there has been a wave of support for the Group 1 winner in the past 24 hours and she has now leapfrogged Lumosty ($4.8) and Crafty ($5) at the top of the Crown Oaks betting markets.

The Crown Oaks has always been one of the major 2014 Spring Racing Carnival targets for Go Indy Go and the Bernardini filly has generally performed well without winning during his spring preparation.

Go Indy Go resumed with a most disappointing performance in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on September 13, but she bounced back to a semblance of her best form when third in the Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) at Caulfield on September 28.

The Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 11 was not run to suit Go Indy Go, but she was still able to make up good ground late to finish seventh and she produced an ideal Crown Oaks trial when she flashed home for third in the Group 2 Moonee Valley Vase (2040m) on Cox Plate Day.

Lumosty is currently on the second line of Crown Oaks betting and she has been the best-backed of the three Robert Smerdon-trained horses in the field.

The Fastnet Rock filly started her spring preparation with a close second behind Afleet Esprit in the Listed Cap D’Antibes Stakes (1100m) at Flemington on September 13 before she stamped herself as Thousand Guineas favourite with a dominant nine lengths win in the Oxford Landing Estates Maiden (1423m) at Sale on October 1.

Lumosty missed the start and was never able to get into the race in the Thousand Guineas, but she was settled in a forward position before running away from her rivals when asked for an extra effort in the Group 2 Drummond Golf Fillies Classic (1600m) at Moonee Valley on October 25.

Crafty ($5) and Thunder Lady ($7.50) have both remained steady in 2014 Crown Oaks betting markets and there has been a sprinkling of support for Set Square ($8 into $7.50), while Fontein Ruby ($13 out to $15), Abduction ($7.50 out to $8), Imperial Lass ($21 out to $31), Yesterjoy ($34 out to $41) and Hipster Girl ($26 out to $51) have all been on the drift.
