Go Indy Go Ready for Successful Spring Campaign

Group 1 winner Go Indy Go was unable to produce much of a consistent run of form through her most recent campaign, however trainer Leon Macdonald is confident the rising four-year-old is in-line for a career-best preparation through the 2015 Spring Carnival.

Go Indy Go stamped her claims as a serious racehorse when charging home to win the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) at the conclusion of her maiden campaign through the 2014 autumn but has been unable to return to the winner’s circle in five subsequent starts.

Confirming the daughter of Bernardini has been included in nominations for both the Caulfield Cup (2400m) and Cox Plate (2040m), Macdonald told AAP Go Indy Go has taken huge benefit from her time away from racing, and will continue to work in South Australia before travelling to Melbourne for the Spring Racing Carnival.

“She had a long rest and she is now back in good order and will be entered for all the big races including the Cox Plate and the Caulfield Cup,” Macdonald said.

“The plan is to give her a trial then an exhibition gallop with Happy Trails at Morphettville on August 1 before the Spring Stakes a week later.

“Then she will probably head to Melbourne.”

Macdonald saddled Southern Speed to success in the 2011 edition of the Caulfield Cup but believes Go Indy Go will be successful this time for different reasons.

“Southern Speed was a big mare but Go Indy Go is just naturally lighter and will never be that big,” Macdonald said.

“She is eating well and working well and that is the main thing.”

Having failed to beat a single runner home in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) upon resuming last spring, Go Indy Go ran a credible third in the Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) a fortnight later but again failed to fire when seventh in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m).

Returning to competitive form when third in the Group 2 Moonee Valley Vase (2040m), the filly out of Elegant Eagle has not been seen at the races since finishing seventh in the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) on November 6th.

Go Indy Go is currently available at 2015 Caulfield Cup odds of $41 for success with Ladbrokes Australia.
