Global Glamour was the star filly of the 2016 Spring Carnival with back to back Group 1 wins in the $500,000 Sydney Airport Flight Stakes (1600m) at Randwick and the $500,000 Schweppes Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield.

But the Star Witness filly failed to win at her two starts and was coming off a last start second to Flying Jess in the $2m Gold Coast Magic Millions 3yo Guineas (1400m) at the Gold Coast on January 14.

Co-trainer Gai Waterhouse,  who trains in partnership with Adrian Bott, was pleased to see Global Glamour back in the winner’s circle and she is now on track to take on the older mares in the Group 1 $600,000 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill on March 11.

“She looks set for a big campaign this Autumn with her main target being the Group 1 Coolmore Classic on the 11th of March,” Waterhouse said.

Parr had no hesitation it pushing Global Glamour ($2.25 favourite) forward from barrier twelve in the fourteen horse field and even thou the filly used plenty of energy to find the front at the 900m, she still had enough in reserve to hold off the fast finishing Foxplay ($12) by a nose in the shadows of the post.

The hot pace Global Glamour set up front also suited third placegetter Spright ($7) who was also making up plenty of ground in the run to the line.

The Chris Waller trained Foxplay is certain to take plenty of benefit out her narrow defeat as it was her first run back since running fourth to Global Glamour in the Thousand Guineas.

Today’s win was Global Glamour’s fourth from eight starts and the first prizemoney cheque of $115,000 took her overall earnings to $1,135,500.
