Brisbane trainer Tony Gollan is hoping the form out of the Magic Millions Classic will continue to hold up when talented filly Global Dream contests the Group 2 Champagne Classic (1200m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

The daughter of Fastnet Rock is stepping out for the first time since running fourth in the Gold Coast glamour race where she trailed home Real Surreal, Sweet Idea and Missy Longstocking.
Sweet Idea went on to to win the Silver Slipper and finish third in the Golden Slipper while Missy Longstocking returned with a strong fourth from a wide barrier in the Ken Russell Memorial Classic on Saturday.
“The form around all her runs has been really good. A lot of people doubted the Magic Millions form but so far it has held up,” Gollan told horseracing.com.au.
Gollan expects to see an improved horse from the one that contested the Magic Millions and is not fazed by an inside barrier draw.
“She had a jump-out a couple of weeks ago which went really well and she’s come on since then,” Gollan said.
“She’s a little bit older and more mature now. The one is certainly better than being drawn out wide.
“She should bounce out and there looks to be good speed in the race that she can settle in behind.”
Saturday’s $175,000 sprint is the first step on the road towards next month’s Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m) and Gollan is confident his charge will continue to improve as she steps up in distance.
“One hundred per cent she will get a mile. She’s got the pedigree and seven furlongs (1400m) to a mile (1600m) should really suit,” he said.
“When she stepped up from 1000 to 1200m she improved and I think she will again as she gets up even further.”
An $11 chance in Champagne Classic betting, Global Dream forms part of a strong Gollan-trained team for the opening day of Brisbane’s winter carnival.
The Eagle Farm-based trainer admits sprinters Spirit Of Boom and Temple Of Boom face a tough ask from wide barriers in the BTC Cup but remains hopeful Topping can feature in the Group 3 Chairman’s Handicap (2100m).
“It’s only his second prep with us but Topping has really indicated he can be a player in these sort of races,” Gollan said.
