Glenlogan Park Stud Has Magic Millions Fever

Glenlogan Park Stud manager Steve Morley is currently preparing himself to take on the biggest time of the year for the breeding industry in Queensland.

With trainers flocking to Glenlogan Park to view potential purchases, Morely and his staff are hurriedly working to ensure the yearlings look their best in time for the Magic Millions Sale, which begin at the Gold Coast on January 15th.

“It’s the number one time (of year) to be honest,” Morely said.

“It’s the culmination of two and a half years of work.

“You plan the breeding, and then they’re in foal for the better part of a year.”

Morely anticipates this year’s sale to be his most profitable yet, with many of their yearlings coming from proven stock.

Glenlogan Stud is home to a variety of top class stallions, including Rothesay, Bradbury’s Luck, Falvelon, Jet Spur and Show A Heart.

Perhaps the most proven of all on a national scale is Show A Heart, who has sired Group 1 winners Heart Of Dreams and Toorak Toff.

“It’s a really exciting time; we’re absolutely thrilled with how our stallions have gone,” Morely said.

“I’m confident that this draft we have this year is the most quality we have presented.

“The real standout one in our whole draft is the filly who is a half-sister to Toorak Toff.

“She’s just got everything.”

Glenlogan Park has been working on preparing the yearlings for sale since the day they were born, however, have had them in light work for almost three months.

“These horses have now been in prep for the best past of 10 or 11 weeks,” the manager said.

“It’s quite amazing how often winners come from a particular place.

“It’s a lot to do with the way they are grown out.”

Glenlogan Stud was established in 1988 and is located at Innisplain on the outskirts of Brisbane.
