Ghisoni was sent out as the odds favourite last Saturday in the Group 2 $200,000 Bundaberg Rum Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm, but after being slow to leave the barriers was always well back in the field and struggled to make up ground in the straight before finishing fifth to the David Pfieffer trained Cradle Me.

At her previous Brisbane Winter Carnival run the John O’Shea trained Ghisoni ran up to her Sydney Autumn Carnival hype with a one and a quarter lengths win over Cradle Me in the Group 3 $150,000 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on May 28.

O’Shea is now looking to the Spring Carnival and wants to give Ghisoni every opportunity to have enough time off before starting another strenuous campaign.

“(John O’Shea) just felt she is probably looking for the paddock,” Godolphin’s racing manager Darren Beadman told The Gold Coast Bulletin.

“He just felt another couple of weeks going into this race wouldn’t help her out going into the spring.”

Beadmand said that the Godolphin Team hadn’t finalised the Lonhro filly’s Spring Carnival program yet but added that there were plenty of suitable races for the upcoming four year old mare.

“There are a multitude of races she could target in the spring and it just all depends how she comes back from the spell,” Beadman said.

The lightly raced Ghisoni is a winner of four of her seven race starts and as well as winning the Glenlogan Park Stakes, the filly’s other wins were her when she broke her maiden status at Warwick Farm, a win in a BenchMark 73 Handicap at Rosehill and a victory in the Group 2 $175,000 Coolmore Surround Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on February 27.
