The English stayer was relegated to first emergency when the final field for the Group 1 $3m BMW Caulfield Cup (2400m) was released on Tuesday and if he misses out on a start the weekend trainer Roger Charlton will consider going to Geelong as a lead up to the Group 1 $6m Emirates Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington on November 3.

Tommy Berry has been listed as Quest For More’s rider in the Caulfield Cup as well as being put down to ride the Ed Dunlop trained Trip To Paris.

If Quest For More does sneak into the field on Saturday morning, Berry will stick him and Glyn Schofield will be called up to ride Trip To Paris.

If you fancy either of the English stayers as your Caulfield Cup pick, you can get over the odds by taking advantage of Ladbrokes Caulfield Cup Day Special Offer of Best Tote or SP + 20% on every race at Caulfield this Saturday up to a maximum bet of $50.

Berry made a special trip to the Werribee International Horse Centre, where the visiting international horses carry out their quarantine, on Tuesday morning to get a feel of Quest For More and was more than pleased with the stayer’s work with the blinkers on.

“Unfortunately he didn’t get to work with a partner but he worked with a set of blinkers on,” Berry said.

“When I rode him last week I had to ride him the whole way round to get him to work three-quarter pace, but today he travelled and did it mostly by himself.

“Apparently that’s him without a partner.”

Quest For More was racing in fine form during the English Summer with a win in the £140,000 John Smith’s Northumberland Plate (2miles 19 yards) at Newcastle on June 27 followed by a second to Big Orange in the Group 2 £300,000 OATAR Goodwood Cup (2 miles) at Goodwood on July 30.

Trip To Paris also has recent winning form in England and took out the Group 1 £400,000 Gold Cup (2 mile 4 furlong) at Royal Ascot on June 18 three starts back.

Quest For More is rated one of the long shots if he gets a start in the Caulfield Cup and is marked at $61 with Ladbrokes.com.au while Trip To Paris is listed as a $26 chance.

Ladbrokes are also offering a great offer for punters having a bet early in the day on Caulfield Cup Day. If your first fixed odds win bet in races 1 – 5 wins, your will get 50% extra on your winnings on your first winner up to a maximum bet of $50.
