Gai’s Magic Millions Squad Left Burning

Gai Waterhouse is risking having no entrant in the 2012 Magic Millions Classic with her hopes pinned on the outcome of tomorrows Magic Millions event at Wyong.

Waterhouse has gambled her spot in the $2 million event with both Pierro and Pure Hustle ruled out of the Gold Coast next month.

Her sole chance now rests with Burning Sails, an unraced colt but one she is expecting big things from.

He will compete against nine others in tomorrow’s  $200,000 event and Waterhouse has him clearly among the favourites.

“He’s a very, very good colt,” Waterhouse said.

“He’s so beautifully balanced and his work this week has been sizzling.

“The horse to beat at Wyong is Hidden Warrior because he has the race experience but in Burning Sails, I know I have an outstanding young horse.”

Hidden Warrior was actually beaten by Pierro at its only race start but it went down to the wire giving Waterhouse a great form line to follow.

That was in the Breeders Plate back in October and with Pierro now out of Magic Millions contention the winner in Wyong tomorrow will become one of the favourites.

Despite his last start flop as a huge odds on favourite Queensland horse Sizzling still sits atop the Magic Millions market.
