Future Solution To Take Benefit From Chester Manifold Stakes Run

Future Solution will be included in the 2015 Chester Manifold Stakes field that is released tomorrow and trainer Kane Harris is confident that the veteran gelding will take plenty of benefit from his run in the Listed event at Flemington on Saturday.

Future Solution returned to the races in the Group 3 Standish Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on New Year’s Day and he finished at the tail of the field, but Harris told Racing Ahead that he was reasonably pleased with the effort of the Belong To Me gelding and believes that the eight-year-old will need a few more runs before he is capable of returning to his best form.

“We will be accepting there, but being an older horse and having a little bit of time away from the races I would imagine he would probably want another run before we see the old horse back on deck,” Harris said.

“In all honesty it was his first time back at the races for a long time and we weren’t asking too many questions of him.

“He pretty much did everything that we needed him to do and it was just a matter of getting him back to the races and getting him going again.

“His work has been good, but like all older horses he has just taken a little bit of time to come to hand.

“If he makes an improvement off his Standish run he will continue on to the John Dillion and then probably to the Summer Championship after that.”

Future Solution made his racing debut under the care of David Payne in 2010 and he worked his way through the grades successfully, recording four wins as well as nine minor placings for his original trainer, before he joined the Harris stable after being purchased for $75,000 at the 2012 Inglis Australian Tried Racehorse Sale.

He recorded his maiden win for Harris when he took out the Spotless Plate (1420m) at Flemington in July on 2012 and he was not disgraced when he made his debut at Listed level with quality efforts in the 2013 Chester Manifold Stakes and the Listed John Dillon Stakes (1400m).

Future Solution was given an opportunity at Group level during the 2013 Spring Racing Carnival and he finished eighth behind Samaready in the Group 3 Theshark.com.au Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield, but he was unable to replicate that performance in his three race starts earlier this year and has not finishing in the placings since he took out the Swettenham Stud Summer Final in February of 2013.
