French Goldikova Has Record To Rival Black Caviar

While Black Caviar may hold the current top time form rating, six-year-old French mare Goldikova has a race record that could contest even our super mare’s.

While she may not have had 13 unbeaten wins under her belt as a four-year-old, Goldikova has won 12 Group 1 races and will be challenging for her 13th in the Group 1 Prix d’Ispahan at Longchamp Racecourse in France this Sunday.

Goldikova won this same race last year by a length and her trainer, Freddie Head, believes she is more than capable of doing the same again this year.

“Her work has been good and she seems in good spirits and in good form,” Head reported.

“It is always difficult to know until they go back racing, but she seems well.”

“He worked on Tuesday morning and Olivier Peslier rode her.

“He was very happy and so am I.

“We will see what she does on the racecourse as the mornings are different.”

The stellar mare has only been unplaced once during her career and has won 15 of her 21 race starts.

Goldikova has contested and won races over a variety of distances and in a number of different countries, including France, England and America.

Among her greatest feats is the Group 1 Breeder’s Cup Miles in America three years in a row; a race that is worth more than $US 1.3 million.

With Goldikova is clearly the queen of the turf in the Northern hemisphere, it looks like an appearance on the world stage may be in order for Black Caviar to set the record straight.
