Leading Group 1 winning jockey Hugh Bowman brought Foxplay from midfield at the 400m to score a one and three quarter lengths win over the leader Bacarella ($14) with Global Glamour doing her best work out wide down the middle of the track.

Foxplay was having her first run back since finishing second to Awoke in a 1400m two year old Handicap at Rosehill on July 2 and was sent out at the good odds of $8.50.

Stablemate Awoke had plenty of support in the ring and ended up the $5 equal favourite with the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Global Glamour.

Global Glamour had a tough run out wide on the track for most of the way and did a good job to battle on for third while Awoke was never in the hunt and finished well out of the placings in eleventh position.

Waller will continue on the Princess Series Path with Foxplay who will now have her next start in the Group 2 $175,000 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) at Randwick in a fortnight.

“A gun ride from Hugh,” Waller said.

“To reel in the winner was a really good effort.”

“She has done everything right this filly. She got beaten in her last start in the winter with about 60kg I think.”

“We picked this race out and she has delivered.”

“She will definitely go to the Tea Rose in two weeks time.”

Today’s win was Foxplay’s second from six starts and took her prizemoney to over the $200,000 mark.
