A lengthy ban has been handed down to a Sydney jockey after he returned a positive reading for an illegal substance earlier in the year.
Andrew Banks, who was based out of Warwick Farm, pleaded guilty when facing a hearing regarding a urine sample taken at his home track on February 22.
Reports only indicate that following a track-work session Banks urine sample contained traces of a banned substance with no word on what the substance was.
It is the fourth time Banks has been caught for similar incidents, the last time in 2006 he copped a two year ban.
He has the right to appeal the penalty but based on his previous record a challenge seems unlikely.
