Jumping from the gates well, jockey Hugh Bowman immediately found ideal running position for the daughter of Hinchinbrook on the heels of early leaders Harlem River, Frequendly and Positive Charge; who set a noticeably quick tempo away from the barriers and approaching the bend.

Steadily winding the two-year-old up on the turn, Bowman steered Flippant past Positive Charge and was immediately rewarded for the decision when offered a clear racing line 400m from the post.

Locking in a fierce sprint battle with Harlem River, the pair pulled comfortably clear of the main pack; opening a gap of nearly five lengths by the time Flippant poked clear over the line to secure a second-consecutive black type victory.

Bowman delivered a gem of a ride aboard Flippant for success in the 2015 Lancaster Stakes and continued his perfect partnership with the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained filly having also ridden her to a two-and-a-half length win in the Listed Woodlands Stakes (1100m) at Scone on May 16th.

Having debuted for success in the Red Crown Handicap (900m) in early March, Flippant has now posted an impressive three wins and one minor from five competitive starts.

Lining up for just her second competitive start this afternoon, the Gai Waterhouse-trained Harlem River appears in line for a successful racing career having also finished second to Flippant in the Woodlands Stakes.

A long $41 chance for success, Queensland filly Opinionated undoubtedly produced her most impressive effort to date in finishing a credible third in the Lancester Stakes; adding a second minor place finish in just her third competitive start.
