Nine talent-rich races are set to be run at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday afternoon; this weekend’s premiere race card in Victoria.

Classy fields have been drawn to each of the nine races at Flemington on Saturday, but we have analysed every runner in order to help you find a winner.

The action is set to get underway with the running of the VRC Recognition Handicap (1600m) at 11:50am and will conclude after the Flemington Event Staff Handicap (1100m) at 4:50pm.

Race 1 (11:50am) VRC Recognition Handicap (1600m)

Ten horses have been confirmed in the field for Race 1 at Flemington on Saturday, however Riyadh (barrier 10) is shaping as the one to beat. The Darci Brahma gelding has strung together a couple of impressive wins and while charged with overcoming topweight, should find a good position in behind the early pace from his draw. Approved Anger (barrier 7) has posted several strong results this time in and is not without a chance, while Dollar For Dollar (barrier 8) won first-up, but went missing last time out and will need to regather form if any chance of winning this race. Kiwi import Gervais (barrier 6) should carry plenty of benefit into the race and is drawn well, with leading hoop Craig Williams in the saddle.

Tip: No. 5 Gervais ($4.20)

Race 2 (12:25pm) Wilson Medic One Rising Stars Final (1600m)

Only eight horses will contest Race 2 at Flemington on Saturday, but the depth of talented confirmed suggests that it will be one of the better events on the card. Hell Or Highwater (barrier 7) is yet to show his best this time, but is rock-hard fit and offered arguably his best chance of a return to winning form in this race. Step The Pedal (barrier 4) failed to fire last time out, but won each of his five starts prior and is more than up to the class of this race. Dulverton (barrier 8) returned to winning form last time out and should only improve, while Sea The Sparkle (barrier 6) also won first-up and perhaps has the most upside of any horse confirmed in this field.

Tip: No. 5 Sea The Sparkle ($3.10)

Race 3 (1:00pm) Byerley Handicap (1800m)

Not one of the nine two-year-olds confirmed in the Byerley Handicap field have won a race and it is a particularly open affair, as a result. Antipas (barrier 8) debuted for a close second at Geelong on June 30^th and will take plenty of improvement, but steps up noticeably in distance. Anchor Bid (barrier 2) also ran second last time out and has fitness on his side, as well as Craig Williams in the saddle. Lindsay Park will launch a two-pronged attack in the form of Justice Faith (barrier 5) and St Vaduz (barrier 4). The former worked to the line well to finish third at Cranbourne a fortnight ago, while the latter ran fourth in a Bendigo maiden race over 1300m.

Tip: No. 4 Anchor Bid ($1.55)

Race 4 (1:35pm) Murray Cox Handicap (1400m)

A strong field has also been confirmed for the Murray Cox Handicap, including Ken’s Dream (barrier 11). Ken’s Dream is amidst a long and busy preparation, but worked to the line well to finish third at Listed level last time out and should enjoy a step back in class. Eximius (barrier 10) returned to winning form at Echuca on July 10^th, but clearly faces a step up in class into this field, while Don’t Get Excited (barrier 6) has been a model of consistency this time and is not without a chance, at odds. Orient Line (barrier 2) has posted two-consecutive race wins, both impressive and amongst notable company and he should prove tough to beat once more on Saturday.

Tip: No. 6 Orient Line ($6.50)

Race 5 (2:15pm) ATA Trainer’s Trust Handicap (1600m)

There is several winning chances confirmed in the ATA Trainers’ Trust Handicap field and it is subsequently an open race from a betting perspective. Yu Long Sheng Hui (barrier 10) resumed for a smart win, but has failed to figure in the late stages of his two most-recent starts and probably faces too great a task in overcoming some of these opponents. Lovani (barrier 6) has produced a number of strong performances and results this time and is drawn to get an ideal run in transit, while First Approach (barrier 12) is in good and consistent form, will be partnered by talented apprentice Ben Allen and will carry a light weight.

Tip: No. 5 First Approach – Each Way ($6.50/$2.30)

Race 6 (2:55pm) KA Morrison Handicap (1200m)

Mighty Like (barrier 12) has been a strong and consistent performer throughout his entire racing career so far, loves the Flemington straight and will take plenty of improvement into Race 6 on Saturday. The veteran will have no issue finding the rail from barrier 2 and will have claiming apprentice Jordon Grob in the saddle. Moss ‘N’ Dale (barrier 11) has won two of his four most-recent starts and finished second on the other two occasions, and should again be right in the finish of this race under the conditions. Rough Justice (barrier 9) and Ozi Choice (barrier 5) are both live chances in betting.

Tip: No. 1 Mighty Like – Each Way ($16/$4.50)

Race 7 (3:35pm) George Watson Handicap (2000m)

Popular veteran Extra Zero (barrier 2) will have his 103^rd career start in the George Watson Handicap and is not without a chance of winning the race. Storming home at Flemington to win his 100^th start earlier this campaign, the Danzero gelding ran a close second after being blocked last time out and has conditions to suit on Saturday. Pacodali (barrier 6) carries winning form into the race and has been outstanding this time in. Irish import Kilimanjaro (barrier 3) will take plenty of benefit from his first-up run for third in the Ken Cox BM90 (1800m) and will appreciate a step up in distance, while Magic Consol (barrier 8) is also primed for a big run.

Tip: No. 4 Kilimanjaro ($3.30)

Race 8 (4:15pm) Domain Plate (1400m)

A capacity field has been taken for Race 8 and this is another case whereby an argument can be made for several horses. Whyouask (barrier 8) returned to winning form at Ladbrokes Park on July 5^th and while facing a step up in class on Saturday, is more than a chance. Good Oh (barrier 4) has not been far away through each of her three starts this time and is drawn ideally with Beau Mertens in the saddle. Moonlites Choice (barrier 1) and Swampland (barrier 3) both carry winning form into the race, while Gala Moshea (barrier 7) also faces a notable step up in class, but is not without a chance.

Tip: No. 11 Good Oh – Each Way ($18/$5.30)

Race 9 (4:50pm) Flemington Event Staff Handicap (1100m)

Fourteen three-year-olds will contest the final race at Flemington on Saturday, including Highland Beat (barrier 4). Highland Beat returned to winning form with an outstanding performance in the Listed AR Creswick Series Final (1200m) a fortnight ago and will enjoy a step back in company this weekend. Jaws Of Steel (barrier 2) has been inconsistent at best this time in, but is capable of a big run when nothing is expected of him. Kharnmosh (barrier 6) and Tahi (barrier 14) are both lightweight chances.

Tip: No. 2 Highland Beat – Each Way ($6.50/$2.45)
