Nigel Blackiston is looking ahead to the spring with a smile believing he’s got a potential Myer Classic winner on his hands with You’re So Good.

As a three-year-old the Savabeel filly enjoyed a lovely start to her career with two wins and three minor placings from her six summer – autumn campaign runs.
A winner on debut at Moonee Valley in mid-December, You’re So Good would go on to be competitive in a number of big autumn races.
One such performance was her devastatingly close second to Alzora in the Group 3 The Vanity (1400m) at Flemington in February when nudged out of the black type victory by a mere nose.
Undoubtedly You’re So Good’s biggest run to date was her second to Ferlax when beaten just a half length in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) up against the boys in Melbourne on March 2.
She backed up from there to post her second career win retaining her undefeated record at Moonee Valley when breaking her black type maiden in the Listed Alexandra Stakes (1600m).
You’re So Good hasn’t raced since she made her interstate debut at Rosehill on Golden Slipper Day in early April where she finished a disappointing eighth to Norzita in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m).
There were excuses for her that day however including racing the other way, running on her first Slow-rated track and stepping up to 2000m for the first time.
“She didn’t handle the heavy going,” Blackiston said.
“She missed the kick, pushed forward, over raced and did so many things wrong.
“It was just one of those races that you put a line through and start again.”
Blackiston is confident then You’re So Good can return to her earlier good form when she returns later in the year.
He will also keep her to the mile this time in after her Vinery Stud Stakes disappointment naming the $500,000 Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington on Emirates Stakes Day, Saturday November 2, on the first day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival as her grand final goal for the season.
You’re So Good retuned to Blackiston recently and is now back in work heading towards the first run of her Myer Classic preparation.
“She’s been back in our stable for about four weeks now and doing a bit of evens at the moment,” he said.
“She’s come back in great order after a nice six week break and hopefully we’ll be kicking her campaign off in the Cockram Stakes at Caulfield.
“Then we’ll go to the Let’s Elope Stakes with her ultimate aim the Myer Classic.”
The $150,000 Group 3 W.W. Cockram Stakes (1200m) takes place at Caulfield on August 17 while the $220,000 Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) runs at Flemington on September 7, 2013.
If successful in the Myer Classic You’re So Good would be handing Blackiston with his third Group 1 trophy adding to those achieved with Littorio in the 2008 Turnbull Stakes and The BMW.
