Festival Of Perth Set To Be Pure Heaven For Parnham

Ascot trainer Neville Parnham believes he has found the next big thing in West Australian racing in his talented three-year-old filly Pure Heaven.

Parnham feels Pure Heaven harnesses the same amount of ability as her dam, Magic Heaven, which he also trained successfully a decade ago.

The Snippetson filly fought hard to win her first-up start of the spring by a nose in the Phoenix Holden Handicap at Belmont Park yesterday.

“To her credit, she dug deep when she had to,” Parnham said.

“She’s a horse that’s always shown a bit of promise, and was probably a bit immature at her previous prep.

“Hopefully she can have a prosperous campaign.

“I trained the mare and liked her at the sales.

“I would have thought up to 1200m (would be the best distance) for her at this point, that’s about where her mother was.”

Parnham purchased Pure Heaven for just $20,000 from the 2010 Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

The talented filly has now won two of her seven career starts and appears in prime form ahead of the annual Festival of Perth this summer.

Parnham will also take three-year-olds Shady Bet, Fort Courage, Almachino and Reign Of Terror to the summer racing carnival.
