Farley Becomes The Most Wanted Man

Steve Farley has done more interviews with the media in the last month or so than he’s probably done ever before in his life.

Such is the attention surrounding Sincero that Farley has become arguably the most wanted man ahead of both the QTC Cup tomorrow and ultimately the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap the week after.

Sincero will be attempting what no horse has ever managed to do, winning the races back-to-back.

Earlier on it looked like Sincero would have to win tomorrow’s race just to make the Stradbroke Field which made his favouritism for the race quite surprising for many.

With withdrawals he’ll now probably scrape in regardless but a win is still exactly what Farley is looking for.

“He’s settled in good now, so he’ll rest up and we’ll get him out for a bit of work this afternoon,” he said.

Helping his cause was barrier one and it could be handy in such a quality Group 2 field.

“It’s probably going to work in our favour as he’s probably going to get a soft run along the fence,” Farley said.

“He’ll need a bit of luck but he’ll be there when the whips are cracking.”

Few would argue it’s the toughest field Sincero has faced and it will be up to Tim Clark to keep his winning streak alive.

“He’s probably going to have to look to get off the fence before the turn,” Farley said.

“He needs a bit of room and once he balances up he should be there somewhere around the mark.”

He has no doubts as to the current fitness of the horse and like many he thinks it’s Sincero’s race for the taking.

“His work last Saturday was some of the best work he’s had in his career,” he said.
