Fame Game has been on top of Melbourne Cup betting markets since connections confirmed that he would head to Australia following his fast-finishing second in the Group 1 Tenno Sho (3200m) at Kyoto in May and he was smashed into a quote of $4 following his perfect Melbourne Cup trial in the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) at Caulfield on October 17.

The son of Heart’s Cry was backed into $3.80 following the 2015 Melbourne Cup barrier draw, but bookmakers have finally started to take on the dominant Melbourne Cup favourite and he has been $4 out to $4.40 this afternoon.

Trip To Paris is the only other horse that is available at single figure Melbourne Cup odds and he has been backed into $8.50 to deliver trainer Ed Dunlop a long awaited win in ‘the race that stops a nation’.

The Champs Elysees gelding stamped himself as a genuine Melbourne Cup contender when he took out the Group 1 Ascot Gold Cup (4023m) during the Royal Ascot Meeting on June 18 and he followed that up with a close third in the Group 2 Goodwood Cup (3218m) at Goodwood on July 30.

Trip To Paris was expected to be too dour for the Caulfield Cup, but he stormed home in the final stages to finish second behind Mongolian Khan and connections are confident that he will be better supported by Flemington and the step-up in trip to 3200 metres.

While Fame Game remains a dominant favourite in 2015 Melbourne Cup betting markets, the market mover with Ladbrokes has been Godolphin-owned Sky Hunter, who has been $67 into $41 in the last 24 hours.

Sky Hunter took out the Group 2 Dubai City Of Gold (2410m) at Meydan on March 27, but injury kept him away from the races for six months and he was denied by The Corsican in the Group 3 Dubai Duty Free Legacy Cup (2217m) at Newbury on September 19.

Another horse that has been well-backed in Melbourne Cup betting markets is Our Ivanhowe, who has been backed from $26 into $21 to deliver trainer Lee Freedman his sixth win in ‘the race that stops a nation’.

There has been a sprinkling of support in the 2015 Melbourne Cup betting market with Ladbrokes for Criterion ($15 into $14), The Offer ($51 into $51), Preferment ($11 into $10) and Sertorius ($201 into $101), while Who Shot Thebarman ($17 out to $21), Grand Marshal ($26 out to $41), Quest For More ($61 out to $101), Prince Of Penzance ($81 out to $101), Excess Knowledge ($21 out to $26) and Gust Of Wind ($26 out to $34) have all been on the drift.
